Safe spending in online games
Learn about the possible hidden costs

Lots of games let you buy things
These are called in-game purchases, things like new costumes ('skins') , tools, extra lives, loot boxes, battle passes or in-game currency.
They can be fun, but they also cost real money.
Sometimes games make it easy to spend without thinking, you might see buttons that say, “Buy now” or “Get more coins.”
It could also cost 'in-game currency' which can make it difficult to know how much it costs in real life.
It can be tempting to click, especially if you’re trying to win or level up.

You might want to think about setting spending limits with a trusted grown-up.

Some games have settings that stop you from buying things without permission.

It’s also helpful to talk about what’s worth spending money on and what’s not.
