Dos and Don’ts
Only take necessary digital devices with you - The more devices that are taken with you, the greater the risk of something being lost or stolen. This can lead to information getting into the wrong hands, and potential repercussions on you.
Do not take any removable media with you - Removable media can contain private and confidential information, which when lost poses a risk of data leakage.
Do not take devices that have sensitive data on them - Sensitive data can end up in the wrong hands, and be used to extort or blackmail your company, with the threat of it being used for illicit activities.
Do not use USB charging points, only use manufacturer provde charges - USB charging points can present a real risk in terms of security, you have no way to control what data is transferred along the cable, or even where the cable goes. Using manufacturers plug means you will only be charging the device and not sharing information.
Ensure secure passwords and pin codes are set on all digital devices - In case anything is lost or stolen this will mean information contained on that will not be accessible to the person in possession of it, this will mean less worry about data leakage, although it should always be a concern no matter what passwords or security are in place.
